Should Ron Paul be allowed at Sunday’s debate?

Should Ron Paul be allowed at Sunday’s debate?

There
seems to be a debate going on between Fox News and New Hampshire
Republicans over precisely who will participate in this weekend’s
presidential debate.

Rumor has it that online fundraising sensation and Texas congressman Ron Paul and San Diego congressman Duncan Hunter will be excluded
because their N.H. poll numbers are not in double digits, although
Paul’s fourth quarter fundraising numbers were way into double digits,
nearing $20 million, according to his website. In the first 240 minutes of the new year, nearly $11,000 more came in.

Military support for Paul

So we now know that, measured in terms of financial support, Ron Paul, the one GOP candidate who actually backs individual liberty against government power, is now ahead of Huckabee, Brownback, Thompson (Tommy) and Tancredo. He’s the alternative to the Big Three. But guess who are among his strongest supporters? The U.S. military. Paul has a staggering 52.53 percent of all military contributions.

Ron Paul Speaks to 1,000 in Iowa

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 30, 2007

DES
MOINES, IOWA – Presidential candidate Ron Paul held a rally today
celebrating life and liberty at the Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines, Iowa.
The event was held immediately after and next door to a Republican
candidates forum sponsored by the Iowa Christian Alliance and Iowans
for Tax Relief.

Dr. Paul was the only GOP candidate excluded
from the forum, so his campaign organized an event of its own.  Despite
being planned in less than a week, Dr. Paul’s event singlehandedly
outdrew the other forum and its six participating candidates by several
hundred attendees.

“Today, Ron Paul demonstrated how deeply
his message of freedom and limited government is resonating across the
nation,” said campaign manager Lew Moore.

Dr. Paul, addressing
a packed room, received thunderous applause many times and as well as
several standing ovations.  Observers believe that this event was the
biggest rally for a Republican candidate in Iowa during this campaign
cycle.

“Ron Paul has generated more grassroots excitement and
support than any other candidate in the race,” continued Moore.  “The
campaign is building on this momentum around the country as we drive
toward the nomination.”

Paul Crashing Tax Debate

June 29, 2007

Since Paul was excluded from the rally he is holding his own rally in the same building.

The Texas congressman,
who has struggled to top 1 percent in national polls, wasn’t invited to
a forum of presidential candidates Saturday in Des Moines. The
gathering is sponsored by the Iowa Christian Alliance and the watchdog
group Iowans for Tax Relief.

Campaign spokesman Jesse
Benton said it has been frustrating to be excluded, especially since
Paul has consistently opposed abortion and is known nationally for his
advocacy of lowering taxes.

Can a Pro-War Republican Win in ’08

June 21, 2007

Ron Paul recently told MSNBC News…

“I don’t see how any Republican candidate can
possibly win next year as being proponents of war and with the
intention of spreading war into Iran,” he told MSNBC News.

I’ve watched those debates and the candidates have spent half of the time alloted talking about the mismanagement of the Iraq war.  And then, the very next question will be about Iran, and they all start waving their swords about how tough they would be against Iran.

Forget the idea of learning from history, Are they not learning from the present?

Do you agree?

Statement on Iran Resolution from Rep. Ron Paul

June 21, 2007

Having already initiated a disastrous war against Iraq citing UN resolutions as justification, this resolution is like déja-vu. Have we forgotten 2003 already? Do we really want to go to war again for UN resolutions? That is where this resolution, and the many others we have passed over the last several years on Iran, is leading us. I hope my colleagues understand that a vote for this bill is a vote to move us closer to war with Iran.
